Vintage 12 Hole Sugar Mold

Vintage twelve-hole sugar mold from Mexico, from the late 19th to early 20th century with gorgeous patina. Sugar molds were used in the 1800s as a way to store sugar and syrup. The molds are made from solid blocks of wood that have holes carved out. Dark brown sugar, called "piloncillo" in Spanish--would have been melted and poured into the molds, solidified, and stored. In more recent times, the wooden molds are used for a table centerpiece or mantle decor. Add candles, dried lavender, small potted succulents, or seasonal items to craft a creative and unique display! Approx. 38½" x 3¼" x 5"
