Tips to de-stress during the holidays.

Simple tips to de-stress during the holidays.

The holiday season can be joyous, but it can also bring stress due to various reasons such as busy schedules and family obligations. Here are some tips that I find have helped me to de-stress during the holidays:

Plan and Prioritize:

Create a realistic schedule and prioritize your tasks. Break them into smaller, more manageable steps.

I try to set realistic expectations for myself. Grabbing a journal or a notebook to write down my schedule and prioritize tasks can really help.

Practice Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques (remember your favorite scents):

Take a few minutes each day for mindfulness meditation or deep breathing exercises to help calm your mind.

Burn your favorite candle. Scents like Fraiser fir, Chamomile Lavender, and Sea & Dune are some of my favorite relaxing scents.

Consider activities like yoga or progressive muscle relaxation.

Stay Active:

Engage in physical activity. Exercise can help reduce stress and boost your mood.

Take a walk, go for a run, or participate in activities that you enjoy.

Delegate Tasks:

Don't be afraid to ask for help and delegate tasks. You don't have to do everything on your own.

Share responsibilities with family and friends. Take advantage of local stores that will help you shop for your loved ones and gift wrap to make your life easier.

Celebrate Traditions:

Focus on the aspects of the holidays that bring you joy and meaning.

Create and uphold traditions that promote connection and positive emotions. Some of our favorite family traditions are building our Christmas gingerbread house and reflecting on what we are thankful for. This year I added the Santa Kindness ornament that we have at our store. Everyday my daughter scans it and Santa shares acts of kindness.

Take Breaks:

Schedule breaks for yourself during busy days. Brew your favorite tea or cup of coffee. I find listening to music or reading a good book, while enjoying a hot cup of tea or coffee is a great way to de-stress.

At night, taking a relaxing bath, using a natural bath bomb, bath oils or getting a massage is also a great way to de-stress and relax.

Practice Gratitude:

Reflect on the positive aspects of your life. Keeping a gratitude journal can help shift our focus.

Express gratitude by telling loved ones what you appreciate about them.

Get Enough Sleep:

Ensure you get adequate sleep each night. Lack of sleep can contribute to stress and mood swings. Relaxing scents, such as our lavender pillow spray, help me to relax and fall asleep faster.

Connect with Loved Ones:

Spend quality time with family and friends.

Remember that self-care is essential, especially during busy times. Prioritize your well-being and make choices that contribute to a more relaxed and enjoyable holiday season.
